So… I hate shaving. Seriously. The ingrown hairs and razor burn… I just hate it. I bought this product because I was planning to go in for laser hair removal after purchasing a package… then 2020 happened. After some debate about whether to wait or not, I decided to continue my own treatments at home. I’m so glad I did! The cost of doing this at home versus at a laser hair removal location is exceptional. I paid $60 for my first six treatments and was told it would take 18 treatments to achieve complete hair removal (just a few stray chin hairs). Now I’m doing my face, underarms, legs, arms, and bikini line for the one-time cost of this product.
I decided to treat only one leg initially to compare if it was working or not. The photos are after four or five home treatments (can’t remember exactly). This is after not shaving for about a week. You can still see a few stragglers on the treated leg, but the lack of growth compared to the untreated leg is significant! I’m guessing another five treatments will take care of everything. I’ve read that dormant hair follicles can start growing over time, so I anticipate having to re-treat occasionally. My armpit hair is almost completely gone, including the shadow that dark hair can create under the skin; that’s gone as well! My bikini line is thinning. That will take more time since the hair is thicker.
Pain: As far as pain is concerned, I’ve been using level 5 on everything, and there is definitely a good little zap, but I got used to it. Obviously, that zap is more intense around the bikini line… I have to mentally prepare a bit before going there… not gonna lie… but it’s not terrible. No watery eyes or anything. The pain is similar to waxing.
Time: Because I’m zapping almost everything, this is a time-consuming process. Doing arms, legs, underarms, face, bikini line, and a small zap on each big toe takes about 2 hours. I lay in bed and watch a movie on Saturday morning after a full exfoliating shower and shave. The dream of being razor-free in the future is a huge motivator to keep going. Also, I consider this time as “self-care” so I don’t feel guilty about dedicating that much time to myself.
I’m completely happy with this product. My daughters are interested in borrowing it, which is awesome. I like the idea that they can start using it when they’re younger and save themselves thousands of hours over their lifetime not shaving. I wish I’d done this in my 20s!
